Archery Merit Badge – 2 October

Bowing to popular pressure, Troop 77 organised an Archery Merit Badge this year.

More than 20 scouts were keen to give it a shot and gathered at Cartigny Archery Club on a sunny October morning, quivering with excitement.

We had pulled some strings and were lucky to have the expert assistance of a qualified instructor from the local club. He described the history of archery, displaying his collection of bows and arrows from around the world.

Scouts learnt about range safety and the essential commands, not to mention correct technique and instructions for how to make their own arrow. By the end of the morning, all were on target for their badge.
