Leysin Thanksgiving Weekend – 27-28 November

On Thanksgiving weekend, the scouts went to Leysin, where it snowed. We stayed in a chalet called Riant-Val. On Saturday morning we went climbing indoors and played badminton. Some of us completed the climbing merit badge. When we arrived there was hardly any snow out but by the time we left the gym, the place was covered in snow. Afterwards we prepared and ate a Thanksgiving dinner with each patrol volunteering to cook a different dish. In the morning we split into two groups. Half of us went trekking and the rest went horse riding, and both groups had lots of fun despite the freezing cold! The trekkers got up at 5 a.m and hiked for 5 hours in crampons. The horse riders got up and cleared the whole chalet, then went horse riding.
