March 2024 – Gryon Weekend

The view from our cabin

On 2-3 March 2024, we had our traditional snow weekend in Gryon, in the Swiss Alps.

Not only did we take in the stunning scenery, but we also worked on the Snow Sports merit badge, doing ski touring, snowshoeing, or simply hiking all the while appreciating the nature we were surrounded by. It was quite windy at the end, but I really enjoyed it!

Trying out ski touring

We rounded things off by practising some survival skills, namely avalanche training and food preperation. I learned that melted snow and miso soup tastes so much better on-location! We capped things off with a dinner of world-class fondue at the refuge, and everyone agreed it was the best they’d ever tried.

Well done to everyone who earned a merit badge! I can’t wait for next year.

Enjoying the peaceful surroundings…
…and the great views!
