February 2025 – Scout Sunday

Written by Sebastien Burgess (Eagle Scout; Webmaster)

On 2 February 2025, Troop 77 served at Scout Sunday, taking place at the Église Saint Germain, in the old town of Geneva.

Scout Sunday is an annual event focused around giving back. Emmanuel Episcopal Church, our Chartered Organisation, held a combined service with Holy Trinity Church and Église catholique-chrétienne, and we were happy to attend and give our time. A Scout is helpful, and a Scout is reverent, so it’s always a pleasure for us to serve in this event.

We began the event by helping with the setup of the service, with all of us finding tasks to help out with, from preparing candles, to setting up the bake sale, to ushering people in.

Our work didn’t end there! Throughout the service, we took part in many tasks, such as carrying our troop flag in the opening procession, reading Biblical verses, lighting candles, and even collecting donations.

Following the service, we sold the baked goods that we’d brought, raising a lot for charity, and spoke to the many people who were impressed by our efforts throughout the service.

Thanks and well done to everyone who came and served (earning three service hours!). Your efforts were very much appreciated!
